TIPS FOR SHOPPING
“A picture is worth a thousand words!” A photo of the outside of your house helps to know where a natural drafting chimney can be put (10′- 2′ for chimney height). Stand outside in the yard and take several views of the house.
Fireplace measurements are a must! Height, width, depth of the inside, as well as height and depth of the hearth (part of the fireplace outside the opening). Take a photo of the fireplace, and perhaps a photo of the fireplace chimney as it comes through the roof. A simple diagram of measurements is also helpful.
Make a room drawing of the house. Show each room with doors, windows, and room measurements. Do a room layout of each floor. This way we can see where the chimney will penetrate through each floor.
