Most of us grew up with a real wood fire in the backyard. The equipment has gotten a lot better since then, and a good fire pit is now something you use in October and April, not just in July.
Ablaze fire pits are coated in paint rated to 1,200 degrees, so they can take the heat, and they are built to pull every BTU out of a piece of wood for longer burn times. They carry a three year warranty.

Tell us about the patio and whether there is gas nearby. We will come back with what fits the space and the price to put it in.
What the differences actually mean
Wood fire pits
Heavy steel, high temperature coatings, and enough airflow to burn clean instead of smoking your neighbors out. Ablaze is what we keep on the floor.
Gas fire features
Fire bowls and burners plumbed to natural gas or propane, so there is no wood to store and no ash to shovel. We run the line and set the burner.
Screens and covers
The unglamorous parts that decide whether the thing looks good in year five.
We sell it, install it, and come back.
One crew runs the Class A chimney, the relining, the gas line and the appliance itself, with 50 years of combined experience. When it needs a gasket in year seven, you call the same shop.
